‘Full House’ Creator Lists Beverly Hills Manson Murders Mansion for $85 Million

A full house at the previous property at 10050 Cielo Drive spelled tragedy. Now the term has a different meaning. Full house Creator Jeff Franklin recently put his Beverly Hills mansion up for sale for $85 million. Located where the famous Manson murders took place, Franklin bought the property in 2007 but moved to Miami.

In 2007, when Franklin purchased the property, known as “The Cielo Estate”, the mansion itself was unfinished. According to The New York Post, Architect Richard Landry designed the home, featuring 21,000 square feet of living space, nine bedrooms, and 18 bathrooms.

Franklin recently hosted Bob Saget’s reception after the late comedian’s funeral on Friday, January 14, according to Additional. However, Franklin no longer lives in the mansion. He moved to Miami in 2021.

Sharon Tate and several others were murdered at the address of Charles Manson

In 1969, Tex Watson, Susan Atkins and Patricia Krenwinkel, all supporters of Charles Manson, broke into the house on his orders and murdered actor Sharon Tate, Folger Coffee heiress Abigail Folger, famed hairstylist Jay Sebring , Steven Parent and Wojciech Frykowski. Tate, married to director Roman Polanski and best known for her role in valley of the dolls, was more than eight months pregnant. Polanski was living abroad at the time, but Frykowski, a close friend, stayed with Tate along with Polanski.

Nine Inch Nails singer Trent Reznor rented the house in 1992 and set up his recording studio there despite its sordid past. He was the last person to live in the house where the murders took place. However, he moved out in December 1993 after claiming “the house has too much history for me to handle”.

A few years later, the owners tore down the house Tate lived in and built a new one in its place. However, when Franklin purchased the house, he was unhappy with the design. Talk to Architectural Summary in 2010 he said, “What I fell in love with here was the setting, the views, the privacy and the amount of flat land. But the existing house was probably the most poorly designed structure I’ve ever been in.

‘Full House’ Creator Jeff Franklin Hired Architect Richard Landry To Create The Home He Wanted

the Full house creator had a tall order for what he wanted in a home. He wanted to incorporate inspiration from several areas he has visited in the past.

“It was important to me that the house in general had a warmth and comfort that is not very common in houses of this size,” he explained to Architectural Summary.

“I really wanted to use fire, water, earth, stone and wood, to feel like all the elements were there. I had spent the last 10 years traveling the world, so part of the working order was to take Japan and China and Bali and Thailand – those influences – and bring them into the house. At the same time, I love tropical islands and wanted to feel like I was on the islands when I was home. And of course, I live a very contemporary California lifestyle, so it had to be a house where you weren’t afraid to break something or spill something and never be invited back. The last influence was scuba diving. I love the ocean and wanted sea life around me.

Now Franklin lives in Miami, and the famous property is up for sale again.
